A holiday bonus from Learn From Play
Newsletter
Rachel McCann | December 09, 2021
This newsletter is all about Under The Sea with:
- Our latest article on developing fine motor skills through painting;
- Our Under The Sea box which includes the ingredients for 'clean' painting;
- Resources for the Under the Sea picture book Nelson's Dangerous Dive and
- A new poster to brighten your classroom either in person or virtually.
As this is our last newsletter for 2021 there is also a special holidays activity you might like to do in these last few weeks before Christmas holidays to keep children thinking and make problem solving fun.

This article is the final instalment in this term’s series on Fine Motor Skills. It explores painting and the benefits children receive both in terms of finger strength and dexterity and self esteem, mathematics and creativity.

At Learn From Play we have developed a series of fine motor skills craft boxes. Our Under The Sea box contains everything you need to make the blue bath paint mentioned in this week's article. This allows your children to paint for hours without any need to clean up paint or fear that it could get on your carpet or stain your dining table.

This fortnight's resources are from the true story of a whale that got stuck in a fishing net and the brave men and women who freed him. We have made 6 activities for this book - a comprehension, a spot the odd one out, sorting fact from fiction, labelling a whale, how to draw a whale and how to make an origami whale.

This quote is from George Bernard Shaw. A political activist and playwright who wrote more than 60 plays and was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. He was also an Academy Award winner for his book Pygmalion.
