Are You One Of Our 5 Frugal Fred Winners This Week

This week we are excited to have all our mazes completed, a new blog on gamifying spelling and 5 people have won copies of Frugal Fred as part of the ALA Virtual conference - check below to see if you are one of them.

There are now maze games on every set of book resources on Learn From Play to provide hours of fun so make sure if you have not visited the site recently to jump in and have a look.

Spelling Bingo is the second in the five part blog series on making spelling fun. As the name suggests it uses Bingo to gamify spelling but this is a big twist on Bingo as you know it. Click the image below to read the article.

The FREE book activities this week are for the CBCA Eve Pownall shortlisted book Wilam - A Birarung Story and Rosie's Wheels.

As part of the ALA Virtual Conference Swag-A-Palooza we ran a competition giving away Frugal Fred books as prizes. Read more about this, our blog, the free activities and why I won't be sending a newsletter for 3 weeks below.

This week we have activities for Wilam - A Birrarung Story. This book, about a day on the Yarra River, incorporates Aboriginal language to educate young readers.

The second set of activities is for Rosie's Wheels. This is Annette Holley's first book about Rosie Attard a patient she helped rehabilitate after a car accident. Click on either image below to see the activities for these 2 books.

We were very pleased to be part of this year's American Library Association Virtual Conference. As part of our exhibition we ran a competition asking "Which book by Kwame
Alexander won the 2020 Caldecott Medal?". Anyone who answered "The Undefeated" was elegible to win and we are pleased to announce that Celine Johnson, Jay Cruz, Emily Simpao, Julie Lepore and Lane Beth have each won a copy of Frugal Fred for their respective libraries.

It is school holidays next week in NSW and I will be taking a much needed break to spend some quality time with my family. We will be returning with lots of free book activities, a new blog on gamifying spelling and more in the next newsletter on July 18th. Until then please stay safe and let me know if you have any feedback or content suggestions for the site.
