Book Activities for Christmas Always Comes by Jackie French and Bruce Whatley

This 2022 CBCA notable picture book is a beautiful, heart felt story about the joy of Christmas in outback Australia in 1932 where the drought threatens to ruin Christmas for young Joey and Ellie. The images capture the essence of the joy in small things and the never ceasing belief of young Joey that everything he wants at Christmas will be delivered to him.

The team at Learn From Play have created 4 activities for this book suitable for children from Pre-school or Kindergarten up to those in Year 6 and beyond. They are an activity to see the differences and similarities between Christmas in 2022 and Joey's 1932 Christmas, a colouring activity of the things in the story, a word matching activity and a more advanced activity to reflect on the message of Christmas.

Games

The games below are advertisement free and will open in a new window. They can be played by children online as many times as they like. The Match Up Memory Card Game will allow children to improve their memory while the Maze Game lets them develop strategy and problem solving skills while having fun. These games will also build children's attention, concentration and focus, visual recognition and short-term memory. Enjoy.
