Book Activity for Dirt by Sea by Michael Wagner and Tom Jellett

This CBCA 2023 shortlisted picture book of the year is a beautiful graphic story of a young girl and her father travelling around Australia in a combi van.  As the father tries to show his daughter the Australia he experienced with her mum and teach her that Australia is in fact girt by sea not dirt.

The activities for this book are designed for students in the older grades from Years 4 to 6 or 7 as they include a comprehension about Eromanga, finding locations on a map, exploring the words of the Australian National Anthem and making a holiday comic strip.

Games

The games below are advertisement free and will open in a new window. They can be played by children online as many times as they like. The Match Up Memory Card Game will allow children to improve their memory while the Maze Game lets them develop strategy and problem solving skills while having fun. These games will also build children's attention, concentration and focus, visual recognition and short-term memory. Enjoy.
