Book Activities for Not Cute
Not Cute by Philip Bunting is a fun look at believing in yourself while being aware of how you should treat others. Shortlisted for the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) Picture Book of the Year Award 2021 it is a fun story about a cute Quokka trying to be something he is not which ironically happens when he ends up inside a snake and stops being at all.
This book is designed for students from Kindergarten to Year 3 with a lot of clever language used to differentiate the characters, their personalities and their movements. We have made 6 activities for this book which include matching each animal to its shape as a fine motor skills activity, matching each animal to its name as a graphological activity to learn letters, step by step instructions to draw a quokka, using adjectives to describe animals, a look at the message behind the story from Aesop and a find-a-word of the various synonyms for speak used throughout the story.
