Sing Me The Summer

Short listed to be the 2021 CBCA Picture Book of the Year Sing Me The Summer is a celebration of family life and the natural world.  A beautiful combination of Jane Godwin writing with the watercolour artistry of Alison Lester. A clever look at the Australian seasons and the memories they invoke for adults and the future they offer young children.

There are 6 activities for this book geared towards young children in pre-school or kindergarten. These include a rhyming word matching activity, learning the seasons, asking children to think of their favourite summer and winter activity, a night and day sorting activity, a handwriting practice activity and finding the odd one out picture task.

The video above shows each of these activities and some other more crafty and physical ideas you can do with your children to enjoy nature and the environment around you.

The games below are advertisement free and will open in a new window. They can be played by children online as many times as they like. The Match Up Memory Card Game will allow children to improve their memory while the Maze Game lets them develop strategy and problem solving skills while having fun. These games will also build children's attention, concentration and focus, visual recognition and short-term memory. Enjoy.
