Book Activities for The Boy and The Elephant by Freya Blackwood
This Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) 2022 notable picture book is a wordless story of a young boy and his relationship with nature in the urban jungle in which he lives. It is easy for young children to engage with the images and create their own words to tell this story or no words at all as the pictures say all that needs to be said.
The team at Learn From Play have created four activities for this book for students from Grade 1 upwards. These activities are to sequence the story in their own words, to learn how to draw an elephant and then blend it with other well-known items, to imagine what might happen next in the story and a colour by number to reveal the hidden animal.
