The Undefeated

The 2020 Caldecott Medal and Newbery Honor winner The Undefeated is a book based on the poem by Kwame Alexander and illustrated by Kadir Nelson. A book is an ode to black Americans and the trials and struggles they have fought to become the people they are today and the battles they have fought to help shape America. A book based on the idea that Black Lives Matter and an honour to the men, women and children who fought so hard to make this point heard. 

Activities for this book include researching one of the famous black Americans mentioned in the book, making a poster – All Lives Matter, a comprehension on slavery, a find a word of famous people mentioned in the story and a poem on human rights for all people.
