There's No Such Thing

Shortlisted to be the 2021 CBCA Early Childhood Book of the Year this is a fun story that is best read to children in Kindergarten or Year 1. A dialogue between Ted and Bear about the things they think they can hear in the night during their camping trip. A delightful twist at the end makes this an enjoyable book and an opportunity to discuss the story taking place in the images rather than just in the text.

We have made 6 activities for this book aimed at young children and they include understanding onomatopoeias or sound words, reading a person’s emotion on their face, fine motor skills of tracing, a colour by number, a memory card game and a fine art and craft activity to make a pom pom spider.

The video above also has some ideas for activities you can do with your children once you have read the book, played the games and completed all of the activity sheets.  Watch it to find out what they are.

The games below are advertisement free and will open in a new window. They can be played by children online as many times as they like. The Match Up Memory Card Game will allow children to improve their memory while the Maze Game lets them develop strategy and problem solving skills while having fun. These games will also build children's attention, concentration and focus, visual recognition and short-term memory. Enjoy.
