Book Activities for Wombat by Christopher Cheng and Liz Duthie

This 2022 CBCA Notable Eve Pownall Award book explores an animal unique to Australia. A dual story of both narrative and non-fiction text children can learn all about Wombats while also following one wombat on its nightly adventures.

This book is perfect for children in Years 2 to 4 who wish to learn about Wombats, what they eat, how they protect themselves, how they burrow and their young. The team at Learn From Play have made 4 learning activities for this book which are a cut and paste life cycle of a wombat, step by step instructions to draw your own wombat, a match the facts about wombats sheet and a final poster template to allow you to put all of this together. There is also a fun find a word for some extra fun once the learning is done and to revise some of the information from the story.

Games

The games below are advertisement free and will open in a new window. They can be played by children online as many times as they like. The Match Up Memory Card Game will allow children to improve their memory while the Maze Game lets them develop strategy and problem solving skills while having fun. These games will also build children's attention, concentration and focus, visual recognition and short-term memory. Enjoy.
